How to Prepare for your Appointment

Preparing for your testing or consultation appointment can help ensure the process is seamless and yields the most accurate and useful results. Keep these tips in mind as you prepare:

  1. Be Well-Rested: Adequate rest supports focus, clarity, and a productive appointment.

  2. Bring Relevant Documents: If your child has any prior evaluations, school records, or medical records that may be helpful, e-mail them to jcelestak12@gmail.com. These can provide additional context to support the process.

  3. Clarify Your Concerns: Think about the specific issues or questions you want the assessment/consultation to address. Whether it’s academic struggles, emotional concerns, or behavioral issues— knowing what you hope to understand will guide the process or conversation.

  4. Be Open and Honest: During conversations or assessments, be as honest and open as possible. The more accurate the information you provide, the better the analysis will be in identifying your strengths and challenges.

  5. Ask Questions: If you're unsure about anything related to our appointment, don't hesitate to ask me before, during OR after. I’m here to ensure the process is as clear and comfortable as possible for you and/or your child.

By following these steps, you'll help ensure that the interaction is thorough, accurate, and tailored to your needs. I’m here to support you throughout the process and help you understand any and all results in the context of your or your child's unique situation.

The Woodcock-Johnson IV

The Woodcock-Johnson IV Tests of Achievement is a nationally standardized assessment that provides valuable insight into a student's academic strengths and areas for growth. Unlike tests solely focused on whether a student is performing "on grade level," the WJIV helps identify patterns in learning, allowing parents and educators to develop meaningful plans tailored to the student's unique needs and potential.

This individually administered test evaluates skills in reading, language, and math in a stress-free, supportive environment. Sessions typically last about 1–1.5 hours, with results and professional feedback available immediately afterward. The process is designed to be engaging and accessible, even for students who may struggle with traditional testing environments.

Whether you're looking to better understand your child’s learning style, pinpoint challenges, or highlight advanced abilities, the Woodcock-Johnson offers a clear path forward with actionable insights to help your child thrive.

Benefits of the Woodcock-Johnson for Homeschoolers

The Woodcock-Johnson IV is an excellent option for homeschoolers seeking a flexible and thorough approach to academic assessment. Here’s why it stands out:

  • Meets State Testing Requirements: The WJIV satisfies annual testing requirements in many states, while going beyond basic compliance to provide a deeper understanding of your child’s abilities.

  • Immediate Results and Feedback: Receive detailed results and professional insights right after the test, so you can take action without delays.

  • Supportive Testing Environment: While some sections of the test are timed, the environment is designed to be low-pressure, with a focus on encouraging students to do their best without unnecessary stress.

  • Holistic and Personalized: Gain a full picture of your child’s academic performance, including strengths, challenges, and learning styles, to inform your teaching and curriculum choices.

  • Efficient and Convenient: With sessions lasting only 1–1.5 hours, the test is quick and easy to fit into your schedule.

For homeschooling families, the Woodcock-Johnson isn’t just a test—it’s a resource to help you nurture your child’s potential and customize their educational experience.

What is psycho-education?

Psycho-education provides knowledge and guidance on various issues, potential conditions, and strategies for progress with youth and their families. Its aim is to empower individuals by enhancing their understanding and awareness, enabling them to navigate and address educational and psychological challenges more effectively.

What does psycho-spiritual mean? Is this a religious company?

Psycho-spiritual refers to the connection between psychological well-being and spiritual development, with a focus on the child's innate qualities, such as their birth information, natural abilities, and unique psyche. This approach explores the deeper, spiritual aspects of a child’s nature—those inherent traits and patterns that influence how they interact with the world and develop emotionally and mentally.

It's important to note that our company is not affiliated with any religious organizations. We do not promote or follow any specific religious practices. Instead, our psychospiritual assessments provide insights into the child’s psychological and spiritual landscape, based on their innate characteristics, to support their growth and well-being in a way that aligns with their individual path.

Do you provide independent evaluations for special education eligibility?

Eligibility testing is an evaluation process designed to determine if a student qualifies for specialized services or accommodations under educational guidelines. In public schools, this testing is often used to assess eligibility for services such as special education, 504 plans, or gifted and talented programs. It helps identify specific learning needs, strengths, or challenges to ensure the child receives the appropriate support to thrive in their educational environment.

For homeschoolers, eligibility testing can play a key role in accessing opportunities beyond the K-12 years. It can provide the documentation needed to qualify for grants, scholarships, or specialized services for post-secondary education. This testing helps homeschool families demonstrate their child’s unique abilities or needs, ensuring they have access to the same resources as traditionally educated students when transitioning to higher education or vocational training.

We can provide eligibility testing for special education services exclusively for K-12 students attending schools in DC, VA, NJ, FL, GA and NC. FOR ELIGIBILITY TESTING, BOTH COGNITIVE AND ACHIEVEMENT TESTING MUST BE PURCHASED.
